The US Mint sells Eagle Platinum coin at $1,200 each!

The US mint minted 4000 Proof 2015-W American Eagle Platinum Coins. All 4,000 2015-W Proof American Eagle platinum coins of denomination $100 were sold at $1,200 each, within minutes of their launch on 3rd December, 2015.It is reported that in less than 10 minutes all the coins were bought by collectors and dealers.
General coin description :
On the reverse of the coin an eagle is shown with outstretched wings perched on a globe looking left. Liberty is shown with a flaming torch in right hand and left hand bird is feeding the eagle, set against the background of a shining sun.
The inscriptions “Unites States of America”, "1 OZ.," ".9995 PLATINUM" and "$100” are inscribed around. The Initials of the designer, ‘JI’, Joel Iskowitz and the initials of the mint sculptor, 'PH', Phebe Hemphill are inscribed on either side of the design. The letter ‘W’ inscribed on the coin stands for the mint in which the coins were struck, West Point.
